The Department of Economics is seeking to appoint an internationally recognised researcher to a Chair in Economics, available from 1 October 2010. Candidates must have an excellent record in their research area and be keen to take a leading role in the development of research and teaching within the Department. Applications in any area of Economics will be considered.

The Department has a reputation for research and teaching built upon a commitment to theoretical and, rigorously founded, applied work. The Economics Department enjoys a strong profile in research and teaching, exemplified by a successful 2008 RAE and 2009 NSS. It has a thriving student community, and houses three highly successful undergraduate degrees, four strong MSc programmes and a buoyant PhD programme.
