Business Unit
The Economics Department is in charge of economic & financial research; operational policy support; and country intelligence & financial sector analysis. The Head of Department manages a team of around 30. The position reports jointly to the two Directors General in charge of Operations, and is under the functional supervision of a Vice-President.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement a vision and an overall strategy for the Department, in support of the Bank's strategy and objectives.
Identify, manage and develop the resources, means, policies, methods and tools needed to implement such a strategy in the most effective way, setting and monitoring the objectives and related work plans.
Ensure that staff have the adequate competencies, objectives and motivation to implement the strategy and deliver results, promoting a culture of learning, creativity, collaboration and knowledge sharing
Implement effectively the key processes, initiatives and activities of the Department in conformity with EIB policies and rules; ensuring the day-to-day management and the regular delivery and communication of the advice expected.
Promote and preserve a network of external contacts and a close cooperation and partnership with the Commission, relevant international organisations, public authorities, experts, academia and other third parties
Maintain a constructive cooperation with other areas of the EIB as well as with the EIF.
Qualifications
University Degree in Economics and/or Finance
At least 10 years of professional experience in economic/financial analysis on topics of relevance (e.g. macroeconomics, finance, EU matters, developing economies and emerging markets)
At least 5 years of experience in managerial functions
Excellent knowledge of a broad range of relevant economic specialities, with a thorough understanding of key principles, applied quantitative methods and practices of economic and financial research, intelligence and analysis.
Broad knowledge of EIB group's objectives, strategies and policies; with an ability to understand its political and operational framework and its role within the EU
Good understanding of EU policy, world and development economies
Fluent in English or French and a solid understanding of the other
