This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop analytical capability and capacity in the new Office for Life Sciences. The OLS is an exciting joint venture between the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Department of Health. It will secure the UK's position as the destination of choice for life sciences research and investment. Developing and assessing policy, the OLS aims to improve health and support economic growth.

About the role
In this brand new role, you will be recognised by colleagues, Ministers and peers alike as a thought leader on economic issues related to life sciences and growth. Whether you are carrying out commissions from across the OLS team or building expert networks both within and beyond government, you will enjoy significant scope and autonomy. Leading a specialist team, you will drive innovative analysis and support a structured approach to policy development and delivery. Influencing important stakeholders, you'll champion the OLS's contribution to economic and analytical thinking on life sciences.

About you
You will bring to the role experience of public industrial policy, with an evidence-based approach to policy making. Ideally, you'll also demonstrate understanding of the life sciences industry and UK healthcare environment. You will certainly have a rigorous approach to analysis, with a flair for synthesis and the ability to work at pace. Excellent communication skills, including a proven ability to present conclusions to high-level decision makers, will be instrumental to your success.
