Analyst/Senior Analyst

The Retail Risk Analysis group (RRA), a business unit within SRC, is looking to add a new member to its team. RRA areas of responsibility are bank supervision, bank stress testing, model development and productionalization and research related to banking policy and supervisory topics. RRA staff includes economists (finance / economics Ph.D.), industry experts, and analysts.

Job Description:
Plans and conducts moderately complex research and assignments under general supervision. Works with unit officer to plan projects. Collects and analyzes data, reviews previous research, and writes research report primarily designed for an internal SRC or System banking supervision audience.
Works with senior members of the unit on complex research projects. Performs advanced statistical and econometric analysis on personal computers, mainframe and servers, organizes data for analysis and writes computer programs using languages such as SAS, STATA and the like.
Conducts literature and data searches in libraries, by contacting other researchers and using computer sources such as internal and external web portals. Gathers data using established sources to analyze trends in key variables on regional, national, and international economic activity from news media, web portals, and other sources. Researches and recommends new sources of data. Presents findings orally and in written reports to officers and staff.
With other examination personnel, meets with management and technical experts at major banking organizations, both to evaluate bank practices and to keep appraised of the latest techniques.
Interacts with others in the Federal Reserve System, including various members of the System-wide Surveillance Task Force, bank stress testing and other committees or task forces, as appropriate, providing specialized assistance with data, statistical analysis and reporting. Presents ideas and research findings to management and staff orally and in written reports. Prepares reports using word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software.

Knowledge and Skills
Ability to use PC, servers and mainframe statistical programs, particularly SAS, to organize mainframe and personal computer data into files, and perform advanced statistical and econometric analysis.
Knowledge of and ability to independently apply advanced economic theory to analyze trends in regional, national, and international economic activity.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a strong motivation to learn.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or a related field plus a minimum of three years of experience using economic theory to analyze trends in regional, national, and international economic activity, is required.
Master's degree in economics, finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.
An applicant for employment also must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or hold a permanent resident/green card with intent to become a U.S. Citizen.
Applicants must be able to provide work authorization to prove their eligibility to work in the United States.
