Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF)
Washington - United States
S: Competitive

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF)—the world’s top-ranked think tank for science and technology policy—seeks a policy analyst to conduct research and engage in public policy debates on a range of issues related to innovation-based economic policy, with a particular focus on industrial organization and dynamics. ITIF has long focused on this nexus of antitrust issues and now seeks to ramp up its work. This is a full-time, permanent position.

Advancing the legacy of Joseph Schumpeter, ITIF recently launched The Schumpeter Project on Competition Policy for the Innovation Economy, an initiative to develop and promote dynamic, innovation-based antitrust policy. The policy analyst will conduct research on a host of economic issues related to the current antitrust debates, including the role of large firms in innovation and competitiveness, trends in industrial concentration, and other issues. The position reports to the director of ITIF’s Schumpeter Project. The analyst will conduct research and author reports, blog posts, and op-eds. The position will ideally be based in Washington, DC, but remote work is possible.

The ideal applicant will have strong economic analysis capabilities and be able to effectively analyze and respond to current economic arguments around industrial concentration and evolving economic structure. The applicant should be well-versed in current policy debates surrounding economic competition and social and economic impacts.

The successful candidate will have the chance to shape and deliver an exciting program of work on antitrust and innovation and be part of a dynamic and committed team.

Monitor and analyze ongoing policy developments and engage in public debates on the major economic- and innovation-related antitrust issues of the day.

Qualifications:

At least three years’ experience in the field of economics or related public policy field.
Proven track record of producing high-quality research outputs, policy reports, op-eds, or other forms of policy-oriented communication.

Strong writing skills, especially an ability to communicate succinctly and persuasively to policy audiences in clear, accessible white papers and readily publishable op-eds.
Strong communication skills (including ability to present effectively in policy debates and speeches, work productively in a team environment, and communicate clearly).
