POSITION SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will possess a balanced approach of applied regional economics with the ability and passion to provide technical guidance to IMPLAN customers. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner who enjoys problem solving with customers providing accurate and relevant solutions and contributing to new product development. This position requires a flexible individual who works best in a fast-paced team environment with the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects with highly effective communication skills and fluency in English.
Our Regional Economists/Analysts at IMPLAN support the business line of economic modeling and data services for end-users of our Social Accounting (SAM) data warehouse of regional and national economic accounts and our suite of IMPLAN tools and software. The ideal candidate will be capable of conducting economic impact analyses and reports for particular projects and customers. The position requires a high level of experience and knowledge in general- and partial-equilibrium modeling applied within the broad context of economic and policy impact analysis. The work is team-centric and customer-driven, often requiring creative and innovative product or service solutions that respond to the unique requirements of a client's situation.
The ideal candidate will enjoy supporting the upper tier of IMPLAN users via, phone, email and other support forums providing the highest level of guidance and assistance with all customer projects and requests.

Must Have Applied Economics or Statistician Experience:
•Applied knowledge and experience with IMPLAN and building a variety of types of regional, multi-regional and national economic impact models.
•Applied knowledge and experience with regional social accounting and/or input-output systems and a wide range of economic modeling and econometric techniques.
•Experience with a wide array of analysis systems and tools such as SQL and GIS database modeling, MATLAB, SAS, GAMS, IMPLAN, and programming languages like Python.
•Demonstrated IMPLAN's TMS model of regional trade behaviors, and the embedded components of it such as:
o Spatial econometrics
o Gravity and spatial interaction models
o Mathematical programming and optimization techniques.
•Knowledge of regional and national SAMs for various countries using IMPLAN's standard business processes and sometimes enhancing these processes with new economic or statistical techniques, including activities developing and organizing data accounts like:
o revenues and expenditures of individual government entities such as federal, state, and local municipalities
o incomes and expenditures of households that allows cross-tabulation with a variety of household characteristics
o financial transactions that permits building financial SAMs
o environmental and economic linkages, such as carbon and pollutant emissions
o Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate to the entire team including developers, business analysts, project managers, system engineers and upper level management.

Applied Technical Support Experience:
•A minimum of 3+ Years providing Training and/ or Customer Support directly to customers in the workplace
•Abilities to apply specialist knowledge to real-world events and developments, providing vital insights on how to help the customer frame their study in a sound economic fashion as well as assisting the customer in understanding the difference between financial, political and social impact.
•Abilities to provide creative and innovative solutions that respond and adapt to the unique requirements of a customer's situation.
•Ability to adapt priorities in a rapidly changing environment of competing customer needs.

Requirements:
•Minimum MS/MA specialization in Regional Science (or closely related field) or Statistics
•3+ years of previous workplace software/technology customer success/account management experience or workplace consulting experience
•A passion to provide "WOW" experiences with customers
•Previous customer-facing experience
