The Centre for Advanced Research (CARe) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam is opening three academic positions (all ranks) in the following expertise: 1) Labor Economics, 2) Welfare and Poverty, 3) Youth Studies. CARe is a premier research institute within Universiti Brunei Darussalam that conducts empirical and comparative research on social issues in Brunei and the region. The Centre is driven by a dynamic team of researchers; it provides excellent administrative support. For more information about CARe, please refer to http://care.ubd.edu.bn/
1) Applicants must have a Ph.D in Social Science, in particular, Labor Economics or a related field from a recognised university, with demonstrated outstanding record of research productivity and teaching excellence. Applicants with strong research experiences in the study of labour and youth unemployment and well-verse in the use and analysis of micro-level data from multidimensional surveys on and other measurement of living standards are preferred. Modeling and simulation analysis on welfare and employment and knowledge of welfare state, as well as analytical, communication, and project implementation skills will be an additional advantage. Successful candidate will contribute to teaching at the School of Business and Economics or Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Active participation in the activities of the Centre for Advanced Research (CARe) including team research projects, seminars, training workshops and administration is also expected.

2) Applicants must have a Ph.D in Social Science, particularly in the field of development economics, economic geography, community development, policy studies, and sociology, or a related field from a recognized university, with demonstrated outstanding records of research productivity and teaching excellence. Expertise in related fields of multidimensional poverty, inequality and welfare, community development, social security studies, and development studies and policy focusing on living standards measurement and socio-economic surveys will be an advantage. Successful candidate will contribute to teaching at the School of Business and Economics or Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Active participation in the activities of the Centre for Advanced Research (CARe) including team research projects, seminars, training workshops and administration is also expected.

3) Applicants must have a Ph.D in Social Science, particularly in the discipline of Sociology, Anthropology, Geography, Social Psychology, Social Policy or a related field from a recognised university, and demonstrated outstanding record of research productivity and teaching excellence. Applicants with policy experience, qualitative and/or quantitative methodology expertise, understanding of Southeast Asia regional affairs, international experiences as well as analytical, communication, and project implementation skills will be preferred. Teaching and research interests in related fields such as youth studies, social behaviour, employability, crime and social problems will be an advantage. Active participation in the activities of the Centre for Advanced Research (CARe) including research, seminar, training workshops and administration is also expected.
