European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
London - United Kingdom
S: Competitive

The Economics, Policy and Governance (EPG) department consists of a team of around 50 economists, political counsellors and analysts. It supports the Bank in increasing its impact through enhancing its operations and policy engagements. EPG does this by supporting and assessing the quality of the Bank's interventions through economic analysis focused on its projects: by leading and supporting reform engagements in countries of operation (through country diagnostics and policy objectives); by providing political and political economy analysis in support of operations and high-level dialogues with the leadership of Countries of Operation. It also supports better governance and business environment through a number of targeted products (including Investment Councils and Business Ombudsman institutions) and serves as the Bank's knowledge hub on economics, policy and governance.

EPG is currently seeking an Associate Economist to work in the Sector Economics and Policy (SEP) pillar and support the implementation and updating of a new system for assessing (ex-ante) and monitoring (ex-post) the impact of the Bank's investment projects (the TOMS and TIMS system). The Associate Economist will lead and coordinate the work on the new systems within EPG and act as the main liaison with other departments, including the OE&E team; the IT developers of Project Monarch, and CSRM . Post-implementation of the new systems, the Associate Economist will play a key role in coordinating and liaising with the CSRM team on monitoring, evaluation and reporting of Transition Impact performance for the benefit of the EBRD Board and external stakeholders. He/she will also be responsible for suggesting enhancements and guaranteeing the continued development of the systems in line with best practices. The role will also involve support to the SEP Director in other assignments that would span across the six sector teams in SEP (Industry, Commerce and Agribusiness; Financial Institutions; Infrastructure; Power and Energy; Green Economy Transition and Inclusion).
