This position will provide energy related data analysis and associated technical support to projects primarily in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental impact, and transportation. The staff member will be responsible for supporting project managers and senior project specialists in conducting market assessments associated with feasibility of technology insertions; and to Energy Efficient Appliance Standards, Building Energy Efficiency Assessments and Site Renewable Energy Feasibility Analyses. The candidate may provide support to environmental and economic impact statements associated with the Nuclear Energy Industry and other major development projects and government decisions. The candidate will perform economic and environmental impact analysis of new technology development, Federal or regional policy implementation, and DOE energy policies. The candidate will also be expected to support cost benefit analysis of modifications to existing infrastructure, substitution of one technology for another and related activities.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
The individual will be a member of interdisciplinary teams comprised of PNNL staff and participants from multiple government agencies and/or other clients and consultants. Strong analytical, policy analysis and data analysis and presentation are required. The position requires exceptionally strong communication and influencing skills in order to work successfully with a variety of stakeholders and staff. The incumbent will author/co-author selected sections of reports and conduct oral presentations; she/he will also participate in conferences as a presenter and participant.
The individual will work closely with senior scientists, engineers, and economists along with program managers and the technical group manager to support projects that are to be completed on time and within budget. The individual will interface with clients and their subcontractors to gather data, plan, and implement activities. Will be responsible for providing input to presentations of program results to clients and others; from time to time, travel requirements may be as high as (15%).
Level of Responsibility: Effective team supporter that provides junior level data analysis, technical, and analytic support to projects and senior staff.
Accountability: To senior staff and task leads for performing assigned project support activities on time and within budget. To Technical Group Manager for growing their expertise and communicating development and infrastructure needs. .
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, math, or other related field and 0-2 years' experience related to: economics, energy policy, energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental impact, and transportation, data gathering, analysis, and presentation. .
Qualifications
Technical Expertise: Must be a fast and energetic learner, with formal education in economics, statistics, math or other related field with interest in data analysis and energy efficiency.enewable energy policy development and assessment. Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills strongly desired.
Breadth of Relevant Technical Knowledge:
A junior level analyst contributing to science and technology analysis and assessment solutions in the areas of economics, energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental impact, and transportation. Technical contributor on projects or tasks.
Supports technical projects that may involve multi-disciplinary activities. Supports the implementation of small to moderate size projects. .
