SCHOOL OF INTERDISCIPLINARY AREA STUDIES in association with Lady Margaret Hall

Grade 10a: Salary from £43,745 p.a.

Applications are invited for appointment to a permanent Associate Professorship in the Economy of China, to be held in the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies (SIAS), in association with a Non-Tutorial Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall, with effect from 1 September 2014.

The successful candidate will have research interests in the economy of China, China's political economy or Chinese business and finance. He/she will be expected to provide teaching and supervision for the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies at graduate level and to engage in research and administration. Candidates should refer to the further particulars for full details of the teaching requirements for this post.

Candidates should have received the degree of PhD, in economics, political economy, international political economy, development studies, economic sociology, business and management studies, finance and public administration, or related fields, with specialisation in China, by 1 September 2014, or at least have submitted a completed doctoral dissertation for examination by that date. The successful candidate must demonstrate: research achievement at an international level appropriate to the stage of his or her career; ability to meet the needs of the college as a Non-Tutorial Fellow and Trustee; skills and commitment to contribute effectively to administration, teaching and supervision activity in the school; the ability to relate well to students; good communication, interpersonal, time management and organisational skills (all essential); and a record of success in obtaining research funding; the ability to contribute to quantitative and/or qualitative research methods training and a high level of competence in reading and conversational Chinese (desirable).

The salary for this post will be on a scale from £43,745 p.a. The postholder will have an office in the China Centre, Woodstock Road/Canterbury Road Oxford.
