The Requirements

A Business Analyst role on the Foundry team to focus on build-out of the Risk and PnL platform as part of the Product Control and Valuations programme.
This role is to analyse technical and detailed requirements and work closely with developers to deliver towards the regulatory PCV related drivers aimed at PRA Requirements to report PV Ranges alongside IPV, and link Threshold Reporting to Valuation Uncertainty and EBA Pru Val Regulatory Technical Standards, as part of CRR (Capital Requirements Regulation) calculation of Prudent Valuation adjustments, deducted from Tier 1 capital.
It will also analyse and capture requirements for the Finance, GPU, and Front Office
Foundry is the strategic store for Core Risk for Front Office, PnL Attribution, and IPV for the C&IB businesses and will be extended to also house AVA calculations, Threshold reporting and PV ranges. The system and team is being developed to deliver towards this target state.
Analysis will require modelling/prototyping simulation results including Risk Predict and PnL Explain currently used in trader and Finance (BUC) spreadsheets.
The platform is being developed closely with user working groups and BUC who sit in London. The platform will provide consistent views of risk and PnL with customisable aggregated/summary views by desk. This will include a drilldown capability based on a hierarchical approach for risk, trades, and market data contexts.
Since a number of business will store PCV data in Foundry there is build out and analysis required on the models in Foundry to cater for a number of asset classes that extend beyond the IRD arena including FX, FI, Equities, Credit.

Role/Team Summary:

The team is currently 12 London based developers working with another sister team in London. A team of 4 in India is being evolved in parallel to the London teams. A QA team is also in place.
The tools provided by the platform will form part of the strategic tool set for the C&IB business which include other new applications to support Finance and FO processes.
The platform went live in 2010 with a focus on Risk management for the Structured Rates business and is now being extended and rolled out to provide PCV, PnL and other capabilities across a range of business areas.
Specific responsibilities to include iteration management & planning, requirements capture, analysis, design, testing and overseeing releasing to production of new functionality.
An element of 3nd line support of the Risk Explorer/Foundry and related applications is required predominantly for Trading desks and BUC.

Essential Experience:

Relevant business background, strong analytical skills and a good understanding of IRD, Credit, Equity, FX, FI and other derivatives.
Previous experience of modelling business logic in Excel or other systems for pricing/risk/PnL explain/risk predict
Derivatives product experience in at least 2 of the asset classes e.g. Rates and Credit derivatives . The candidate should be able to discuss the mechanics of these trades with front office, as well as operations and risk/finance experts.
Superb analytical skills, with ability to quickly understand and decipher information and data.
Previous experience of being Business point of contact, the candidate will interact with traders/BUC on a daily basis.
Proven ability to fully take part in the delivery phase of a project
Numerate Degree requirement of 2.1 or above. (Preference towards Engineering, Maths, Computer Science, Physics, and Economics graduates)
Good knowledge of Excel for use with trader spreadsheets, including use of add-ins, manipulation of large datasets
Ability to discuss requirements with Traders in Front Office and IT

Supplementary Experience: (Useful additional skills)

Previous experience in the FO/Finance/FO IT department of a bank
Working in a dynamic and fast paced front office environment.
Understanding of Structured/Exotic Interest Rate Derivative products' Risk management techniques
Prince2 practitioner / other Financial/Accountancy qualifications
Hands on experience of agile development/analysis techniques including SCRUM and BDD in a high velocity team.
