The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is seeking a Business Economist for its Supervisory Policy and Risk Analysis (SPRA) unit.

Primary responsibilities include analyzing, preparing and presenting capital markets, economic and banking information to a wide variety of internal and external audiences. The job entails giving regular updates on these topics to senior bank executives, including the bank's President.

The business economist will be expected to build and maintain a network of regional and national contacts among key thought leaders and analysts in the capital and financial markets and identify emerging risks facing banks and the financial system. In addition, the business economist in the Supervisory Policy and Risk Analysis unit will be expected to publish policy articles in Bank publications such as the Regional Economist; provide comments on the analytical and policy work of other unit members; provide data, information, analysis and evaluation, in written and oral form, to examiners, senior bank supervisors, bank management, and Board of Governors staff; provide guidance to research analysts; and participate in Federal Reserve System committees and outside professional conferences.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Ph.D. is preferred but not required.
• Candidates with masters-level degrees in finance, business administration, and economics and substantial experience in portfolio management, investment research, advisory services, or investment banking are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work collaboratively; and
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Salary and level of position will be commensurate with background and experience.
