Chief Economist

Trulia®, a subsidiary of Zillow Group (NASDAQ: Z) is a vibrant home shopping marketplace, focused on giving home buyers, sellers and renters the information they need to make better decisions. On mobile and the Web, Trulia provides house hunters with insights and unique information about properties, neighborhoods and real estate agents. Additionally, Trulia offers data and information about schools, crimes, commute times, and the real estate market. We are currently looking for a Chief Economist to join our team in San Francisco.

The Chief Economist is Trulia's public voice on the housing market. You will use Trulia's and outside data to develop housing-market insights for the Trulia Trends blog, a leading source of real estate information. The Chief Economist works closely with Trulia's communication, marketing, and data engineering teams and reports directly to the President of Trulia. You will speak regularly with consumer-facing media outlets and at public events.

Responsibilities:

Appear regularly as Trulia's housing expert with broadcast, print, and online media
Speak about the housing market and represent Trulia at events and on social media
Lead Trulia's research about housing markets and the home-search experience
Work with media to customize Trulia data and insights for their stories
Conduct research and analysis of real estate market conditions, interesting real estate patterns, and past and future market trends.
Projects will include creating market reports on topics of interest to you and Trulia's consumers. Your results will be used in blogs, press releases, and web-published reports. Most projects will involve some combination of econometric analysis, data exploration, data visualization, and insightful, clear writing.
Work closely and collaborate with PR, finance, product, marketing, engineering and senior management
Collaborate with leading experts in the field to constantly elevate and evolve thinking
Push the limits of computation and data mining to build innovative user experiences

Qualifications:

Stellar communication skills: equally gifted in communicating clearly through words, numbers, and visualizations
Broadcast experience, including live national television experience
Graduate degree in economics or related field (PhD preferred)
Hands-on predictive modeling and data mining experience
Ability to translate complex quantitative methods into easily understood results
Ability to direct, manage, and build a team
Ability to handle multiple projects in an agile environment
Solid knowledge of econometrics and statistics
Deep understanding of real-estate concepts
Integrity, creativity, curiosity, charisma, and conscientiousness
Ability to travel 35% of the time
