The Village of Skokie, IL is currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, knowledgeable leader for the position of Community Development Director.

Reporting directly to the Village Manager, the Community Development Director is a key member of the Village's management team, leading the activities and operations of a comprehensive Community Development Department. This position provides leadership, direction, guidance and support to three division level direct reports responsible for oversight of the Planning, Economic Development, and Building & Property Standards divisions.

The Community Development Director position is responsible for, but not limited to, meeting the goals and objectives of the Village's comprehensive development plan including current and long-term planning activities; presenting development and redevelopment plans to Village officials; placing a priority on sustainability in planning, redevelopment, and new construction; coordinating projects with private developers; interpreting, maintaining, and implementing Village code, ordinances, policies, and zoning maps to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Village residents and businesses while seeking to preserve property values. In addition, this position engages in high level oversight of the Community Development Block Grant program, Tax Increment Financing districts, acts in the capacity of an ex-officio member of the Plan Commission, prepares department and program budgets, and champions staff development and performance management.

Annualized salary range: $144,606 - $189,171 (DOQ)
