Summary of Position:

This is a Lead Consulting Economist position based in the UK and reporting to the VP of UK Operations. This job is intended to be performed remotely within the UK from a home or private office. The job includes working in specific budget and time constraints to provide economic consulting services to a broad range of customers in education, economic development and workforce/skills planning. The primary responsibilities will be to collect, collate and analyse data from clients; utilise EMSI's proprietary models (including input/output modeling) to generate results and reports; engage with clients and various leadership; incorporate feedback, revision and edits from clients; and provide assistance and support to the UK sales team involving pre- and post-sale's support. There is room for this position to grow into a team structure as we build a suite of consulting products.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

Maintain and develop consulting propositions
Sell, assist in selling and deliver bespoke and productised consulting projects Be self-sufficient in generating income through sales/sales-support and delivery
Be the team researcher and become the team expert at proactively establishing EMSI presence in new and emerging markets, including:
higher education – with particular focus on assisting in the development of an economic impact study (EIS) for higher education
further education – with particular focus on bespoke research and consulting projects in skills gaps and course-alignment review
local enterprise partnerships – specifically in supporting labour market research around target sectors and skills strategies
economic and workforce development organisations in general, such as county councils, employment and skills boards and other local government groups

These activities will require engagement with senior leadership of institutions and organisations to explore consulting needs, communicate capabilities, identify relevant solutions and present results in various settings that include conferences, public forums, board meetings and senior management meetings.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors in economics, statistics or related field
General knowledge of national economic affairs
Desire and ability to efficiently achieve delivery goals
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Excellent presentation and report writing abilities
Strong qualitative and quantitative analysis skills
Experience in customer relations
High proficiency in internet skills and all MS Office programs, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Desired Qualifications:

Masters in economics, statistics or related field
One-two years working experience with labour market data and conducting analysis
Fluency in French
