As the first Data Analyst on TuneIn's Business Intelligence team, you will shape the future of TuneIn's analytical strategy as it applies to product, content, and monetization analytics. Data is critical to all major decisions at TuneIn. You'll work closely with product, engineering, and business teams on all types of problems, from new feature releases to content strategy to data-based products.
You live and breathe data to answer questions and optimize solutions. You are both deeply curious and deeply skeptical. You care about the grammar of data visualization and sanity check all of your analyses before presenting conclusions and recommendations. You are solutions-oriented, communicative, and calm (i.e., "Everybody stand back, you know regular expressions.â€).
Responsibilities
Participate in the product development process by supporting open questions with data and suggesting further analysis to prioritize
Write SQL for standard as well as ad hoc analysis purposes to support all business units
Conduct analysis that reaches meaningful conclusions then communicate complex learnings in a clear manner to key stakeholders on product, engineering, sales, content, and management teams
Develop and iterate key metrics while evaluating their predictive power
Contribute to the statistical theory of the experiment platform and analyze ambiguous experiment results
Leverage analytics tools to scale actionable insights
Learn new technologies on the job as needed
Requirements
2+ years industry experience in a quantitative role
Strong SQL skills
Experience with at least one statistical package such as R, SAS, NumPy/SciPy/matplotlib, Stata, or Matlab
A passion for experimental design and teaching others about experiment results
Excellent verbal, visual, and written communication skills, especially in explaining complex data to people with different backgrounds
Solid interest in the TuneIn product and consumer media/content platforms
Statistics knowledge including regression, forecasting, and hypothesis testing
Modeling experience
BA, MS, or PhD in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Economics, or another quantitative field
Bonus points for D3, advanced Google Analytics, advanced Excel/spreadsheeting, deeper knowledge of scripting languages, experience with Linux/Unix, experience with Agile software development / software development in general, version control.
