Job Description:

This Data Analyst role is for a dedicated individual proficient in data analysis and tech industry consulting. The work you produce will have direct impact towards driving business strategies for prominent leaders in the Silicon Valley. This person will analyze big data, diagnose potential issues, design process improvements, and collaborate across different functional teams. Self-motivation and strong communication skills are both must haves. You will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, vague requirements, and rapid iterations.

Problems we are solving:

What do people do when they are online and how is that different across devices? What new technologies have made legitimate disruptions in the digital landscape and what is the sizing of their impact? In what ways does content influence behavior and how effective is advertising on that content? Why are there shifts in the ecosystems of search engines, social media, and retailers? How much of those trends are caused by company strategies as opposed to the evolution the general population's behavior? What can our clients do when they integrate with the astronomical sum of data comScore has?

About our team:

We are the Digital Publishers branch of Custom Analytics. Projects range from quick and easy ad hoc asks, to broadly broadcasted reports. We work with Sales to identify the big problems companies want to solve and collaborate with Client Insights to solve those problems. We use SQL and many other tools every day. We don't shy away from challenges or opportunities to better understand the world around us.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Building custom solutions to help our clients solve problems, better understand their audiences, and support their advertising efforts.
Developing methodology and creating measurement solutions for emerging digital platforms and products.
Ensuring all deadlines and responsibilities are met. Effectively understanding and conveying the business issues and data challenges to both internal and external clients.
Translating client questions and problems into an analysis and data solutions. Utilizing current industry trends to create new analyses and products that are useful to clients.
Collaborating with teams in Software Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to deliver timely and quality data.
You will be the knowledge expert and responsible for delivering quality data to our clients.
Meeting with external clients as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a quantitative subject such as Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science, etc.
Experience in data analysis and problem solving with big data.
Experience with SQL or knowledge of relational databases and methods for efficiently retrieving data.
Ability to think creatively and solve complex problems. Ability to autonomously manage simultaneous projects in a fast-paced business environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Preferred:

Experience with hands-on coding from scratch.
Experience with panel data, internet behavior data, and/or online advertising industry experience.
Experience with statistical software or scientific computation software like R, SAS, or Matlab.
Some experience or willing to learn MapReduce frameworks (Pig/Hive).
Some experience or willing to learn scripting languages (Python/Perl).
