Mathematica seeks an Data Analytics Associate to assist and support senior staff on ensuring effective implementation of data processing systems, including assisting in developing data documentation, monitoring and testing data quality, performing data management, performing statistical analysis of data, programming data cleaning and web-based data visualizations and resolving system data problems.

Position Responsibilities:

Assists in analyzing data quality and integrity using packaged programs such as SAS, R, Python and STATA, including running basic statistics frequencies
Develops or adapts systems to clean, analyze, and share data
Works closely with a variety of programmers and researchers to evaluate and check the reliability of various types of data
Builds and maintains system to automate unit testing of internal data and client deliverables such as figures, graphs, tables, and reports
Utilizes a variety of software tools and programming languages including SQL, SAS, Stata, R, JavaScript and C#
Participates in technical meetings, answers questions, and troubleshoots day-to-day issues related to data requirements and data quality
Documents, communicates, tracks, and verifies satisfactory resolution of identified data problems
Responds to specifications and conducts database queries/investigations of data stored in Oracle, Extensible Markup Language (XML), Access or other format
Prepares data query reports in a visually appealing manner using a variety of software packages, such as Oracle, SQLServer, SAS or R
Assists in developing, updating, and reviewing data documentation, including data element requirements, business rules, data formatting specifications, data interface requirements, and data deliverables for data processing systems
Prepares memos evaluating operational components of projects, outlining problems, options, and solutions for action by senior staff or client agencies

Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree in economics, math, statistics, operations research, business administration, public administration, computer science, or other field relevant to data analysis
Technical proficiency and interest as demonstrated through academic, work-related or personal programming efforts related to web site design, data visualization and/or data analysis
Basic understanding of mathematics and statistics with experience in the manipulation and statistical analysis of data
Experience with statistical analysis packages or computer languages such as SAS, R, Python, Stata, or Excel
Willingness and ability to learn and thrive in an environment that involves responsibility for time-sensitive/deadline-driven deliverables
Willingness to work full or part-time on-site at client location
