Departmental Lecturer in Economics and Public Policy

Applications are invited for a fixed-term two-year Departmental Lectureship in Economics and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government (BSG), part of the University of Oxford. The post is available from 01 July 2015 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and will be based in our stunning multi-million pound building in the heart of Oxford, where we are due to move in September 2015. The starting salary is from £38,511 - £45,954 per annum.

As our lecturer in Economics and Public Policy, you will teach and examine students taking the School's intensive and innovative one-year Master of Public Policy (MPP), which offers a distinctive and global approach to public policy within a rich and varied curriculum. In particular, you will help deliver the core module on Economics and Public Policy. You will also supervise MPP students, teach an option (elective) module, and may also contribute to teaching on executive education short courses offered by the School.

This post will give you the chance to contribute to the development of the School's curriculum and experiment with innovative teaching methods. You will get full support in observing, developing and applying best practice in teaching methods and in developing original case materials. As part of this post, you will also engage in assessment and university examining; participate in admissions; and engage in academic study and independent research.

You will hold a doctorate in economics and a track record of internationally excellent publications. You will have a demonstrable commitment to public policy teaching and research and demonstrable ability to contribute to curriculum development and to teach, supervise and assess high-achieving and challenging graduate students from around the world in a multi-disciplinary environment. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage a wide range of people including academics, policymakers and the public.
