Director - Economic Analysis

Eaton located in Cleveland, OH has an opening for a Director, Economic Analysis. The incumbent will be responsible for the following:

-Direct business analysis and economic forecasting functions for Corporation.
-Manage worldwide macroeconomic forecasting and econometric analysis functions and represent Corporation in major business councils, to customers, suppliers, government organizations, the press, the industry and to the investment community.
-Provide Corporation with market outlooks for major acquisition candidates, and business segment market growth analysis.
-Present forecasts and analysis to all levels of Eaton management, including Senior Leadership Council and Board-level.
-Manage the monitoring and analysis of international economic conditions and forecasts – Europe, Asia, South America and rest-of-world; and manage and direct the efforts of staffers responsible for those geographic regions.

Essential Functions:
-Provide monthly macroeconomic, financial, and primary market analysis for use by Board, CEO, CFO and Eaton Management.
-Assist in the preparation of economic analysis and present macroeconomic and primary market outlook to Eaton Financial and Operating Group management, quarterly and/or on request.
-Prepare and present economic, financial and business analysis for the monthly CFO Economic Outlook Meetings and other corporate management meetings.
-Develop long range business analysis and forecasts for key primary markets and geographic areas. Present these along with long-term macroeconomic analysis to Board of Directors annually and in Strategic Planning Outlook and/or Profit Plan, written annually.
-Represent Eaton at meetings sponsored by the Federal Reserve, economic research organizations, in major publications and other outside activities of business, industry and economic nature. Represent Eaton Corporation at customer and industry meetings, and in media and other public forums as permitted.
-Analyze divisional, group or corporate profitability and growth potential for CEO, CFO, Group Presidents, VP Planning, or Director of Operating Controllers; recommend strategic and tactical steps to improve profitability and growth.
-Provide special studies of long-range market growth and investment analysis for Sector and Operating Group Executives on ad hoc basis.
-Analyze and report on economic and financial prospects for major acquisition candidates for the CFO and Vice President – Corporate Development and Treasury.
-Develop and maintain appropriate economic models of key primary markets and total Eaton Corporation.
-Supervise data collection and analysis of assigned primary markets; software development and microcomputer applications for business and economic analysis.
-Assist in recruiting new economists and analysts to the department.
-Use high level software capabilities to design, build and maintain econometric, financial and other simulation models and other tools of business and economic analysis.
-Track developments in technology, software, internet, social media and productivity enhancing tools.
-Management of staff economists.

Basic Qualifications:
-Master's Degree in Economics or Finance from an accredited institution is required.
-Minimum 10 years of experience in macroeconomic and microeconomic theory, expertise in both the theory and practice of econometrics and economic modelling, macroeconometric models and macroeconomics forecasting techniques, theory and practice of financial analysis, including the tools of acquisition and valuation analysis, corporate financial analysis and modelling, and basic financial analysis.
-Prior management experience required.
-Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Position Criteria:
-Thorough knowledge of macroeconomic and microeconomic theory.
-An expertise in both the theory and practice of econometrics and economic modelling.
-A thorough understanding of macroeconometric models and macroeconomics forecasting techniques.
-A high degree of proficiency in using computers, computer modelling and programming languages, and computer simulation techniques.
-A proficiency in the theory and practice of financial analysis, including the tools of acquisition and valuation analysis, corporate financial analysis and modelling, and basic financial analysis.
-A very detailed and comprehensive knowledge of Eaton's major markets, products and cost structure is necessary in order to successfully apply the tools of financial and economic analysis to this Corporation.
