Position Summary:
The College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University seeks nominations and applications from leading senior scholars and policy experts for the position of Director of the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs. The candidates' discipline and field of expertise are open. Joint appointments within the University are possible. The expected start date is July 1, 2015.
The successful candidate will facilitate the School's ongoing contributions to the University's interdisciplinary research themes of security, sustainability and health and will build upon the School's existing expertise on housing, community development, infrastructure resilience and the effects of climate change. He or she will lead the School in strengthening Master's programs in Public Administration, Urban and Regional Policy as well as in Urban Informatics and Environmental Policy and will build relations with internal and external partners.
Housed within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, the School brings together scholars and practitioners on the cutting edge of interdisciplinary research and policy design. Faculty research focuses on pressing economic, environmental and social problems, including economic development, effective and accountable governance, resilience, adaptation to the effects of climate change, and pressing issues of diversity and social justice. In addition to a vibrant collection of interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs, the School is home to the Kitty and Michael Dukakis Center for Urban and Regional Policy, the Social Impact Lab, and the Resilient Cities Lab.

Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent is required.
