The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) is an independent statutory authority with a growing role in regulation reform and providing policy advice to the State Government.

In 2013, the Office of Best Practice Regulation was established in the Authority to support the Government's agenda of reducing the burden of regulation by 20 per cent. The Office supports agencies to develop effective regulation which can achieve policy goals with minimal compliance and other costs.

The QCA's research team produces high quality analysis on major issues relevant to the QCA's role as a regulator of natural monopolies in the water and rail sectors. The team also contributes to industry and regulatory inquiries undertaken by the QCA.

The QCA is seeking an experienced and successful senior executive to lead up to 16 staff in the Office of Best Practice Regulation and the QCA Research team. The Director will report directly to the QCA's CEO and be a key member of the QCA's executive leadership team.

The Person

Substantial experience in a senior economic or policy role
Experience in regulatory economics, cost benefit analysis and policy development
Exceptional relationship building skills
An experienced and accomplished manager
