Economic Advisers
Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)
London - United Kingdom
S: £50,688 - £58,844
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is one of the world's top competition and consumer agencies. With markets changing fast and the UK leaving the EU we are currently undergoing rapid business expansion, presenting new opportunities, including the need for skilled Economic Advisers. This is an exciting time to join us.
Economics is at the heart of everything we do; we tackle high-profile cases, champion the consumer and offer intellectual leadership. Here, you will join a strong community of Economists, working in a collaborative, collegiate atmosphere to manage a diverse case load. Working flexibly across the full range of projects, investigations into mergers and markets, competition and consumer enforcement cases, and regulatory appeals, you will have opportunities to contribute to the development of the CMA's economics capability and the successful delivery of individual projects as well as forming and influencing key stakeholder relationships.
It's an environment with autonomy, responsibility and direct access to key decision makers. We are looking for high calibre economists with proven track records. You must have a strong microeconomics and/or quantitative focus, with a good understanding of industrial organisation and competition economics. Practical work experience in the economic analysis of markets is essential and the ability to present to non-technical audiences in a way that engages, informs and drives decision-making.
If you want to gain valuable skills and experience working on varied and interesting projects, make a difference to people's lives, and are intellectually curious, you should apply to work with us. If you're looking for a role that combines intellectual challenge with high-profile, varied and compelling work that directly benefits people across the UK, and excellent opportunities for career development, we'd like to hear from you.
All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days' leave (increasing to 30 over five years), favourable consideration of flexible working, and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme and our employee wellbeing programme.
