The Economic Research Department (ERD) of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco (FRBSF) seeks to hire an Economic Analyst to support its role in assessing national and regional economic conditions.

Position Description:
The position is best suited for individuals with extensive training and 3+ years of prior experience in economic analysis and forecasting. The Economic Analyst will: support the assessment of national and regional economic conditions by ERD staff economists; implement and help organize the FRBSF macroeconomic forecast (collaborating with ERD's PhD economists); work on survey administration and reports (such as the Beige Book); provide organizational inputs and analyses for senior staff briefings and public products; report on findings through internal and public documents; oversee fact-checking and provide content for speeches by the FRBSF President; oversee selected web page content for the ERD; and serve as a key point of contact between the ERD and the FRBSF's Boards of Directors and advisory groups.

Requirements:
The position requires a Masters degree in Economics, Business, Public Policy, or a similar field, with a superior academic record and extensive quantitative courses. Three or more years of job experience in economic forecasting/analysis is preferred. Other highly desirable skills include proficiency in VBA/VBS and statistical software programming, good writing skills, and the ability to supervise the work of research associates and other staff. The job entails direct contact and communication with the FRBSF President, Boards of Directors, and PhD research staff, and so excellent communication skills are required.
