Economic Analyst

Position Purpose Support planning, decisions, and regulatory filings related to how the company's generating assets are utilized to produce electricity by providing commodity market and utility industry intelligence, commodity price forecasts, and financial and technical analysis.

Job Description

• Develop, maintain, and run the 'AURORA' wholesale electricity market model to support trading and business planning.
• Follow, research, and report on developments regarding commodities, regulatory initiatives, policies and events related to the utility industry.
• Analyze the potential economic impacts of market developments for the company and within the utility industry.
• Develop wholesale commodity market outlooks and price forecasts and enhance the department's capabilities for doing so.
• Participate in the team development of assumptions and commodity price forecasts for the company's annual business plan.
• Develop and support the preparation of written testimony, documents, and exhibits for regulatory filings.
• Develop, utilize, and manage various public and subscription data sources.

Education & Experience

• A bachelor's or advanced degree in a Economics, Business, or Engineering.
• Experience with energy markets and/or electric power system modeling.
Special Qualifications
• Good business acumen characterized by the ability to analyze complex information, isolate key issues, and draw logical conclusions.
• Understanding of advanced Microsoft Excel concepts/tools.
• Good oral communication and technical writing skills.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Good organization and project management skills and attention to detail.
