Position Overview

Freddie Mac's Office of the Chief Economist (OCE) is currently seeking an Economic & Financial Modeling Professional. The Office of the Chief Economist (OCE) plays an important thought leadership role in areas of housing finance and housing economics both internally and externally. Internally, the OCE provides consulting services to business areas within Freddie Mac, both providing economic analysis and building a range of prototype business models. Externally this includes assisting in the preparation of factual analysis of issues related to housing and mortgage finance to policymakers and the broader policy community. The OCE aspires to build partnerships and promote collaboration across a wide range of internal and external groups and organizations.

Responsibilities include:
• Assist with data and statistical analyses that support analysis targeted for senior management, research and development processes as well as public policy and economic research.
• Assist with the development, implementation and interpretation of empirical projects for internal and external customers.

Basic Requirements

• At least one year of previous modeling related research or internships, in addition to significant coursework and research in quantitative fields
• MS/MA in Economics or Statistics or a directly related quantitative field or BS with at least 2 years of related post-graduate work experience
• Strong programming skills in a statistical programming language and be solution oriented.
• Experience working with large data sets

Preferred Skills

• Exceptional quantitative, empirical analysis, and research skills
• Good communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
• Programming experience with SAS strongly desired
• Familiar with logistic regression and competing-risk hazard models
• Experience in UNIX and the ability to use software to create, modify, and access databases
• Self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to work as a team member
