We offer our clients innovative and creative ways to solve problems using economics as a foundation. Our Energy practice works with Europe's leading energy companies, regulators, governments and investors. Our expertise covers best practice regulation, market design, competition advice, dispute support (whether international or commercial), strategy and policy development and investment / transaction support. We are also at the forefront of the ongoing energy transition to support the development of a low carbon economy, delivering a portfolio of innovative client work to help assess potential future energy solutions. We have worked on energy related issues in more than 50 countries and on all continents.

Position: Economic Consultant - Energy
Location: Paris, France
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Highly Competitive
Benefits: We are offering a highly competitive salary package plus bonus and benefits. As this role is based in our Paris office, candidates must be fluent in French.

About the role:

We are currently looking for an exceptional candidate to join our Energy practice in our Paris office. As an energy economist at Frontier you can expect to work in project teams across the full range of our expertise for both private and public sector clients, and often in relation to high profile industry issues. Project work is likely to be predominantly France based, but you can also expect to be part of project teams working for clients right across Europe, and some travel may be required.

Some recent work of the practice includes advising:

- A gas storage operator in relation to the reform of underground gas storage regulation in France.
- Network companies and the French regulator in relation to the next round of French regulatory price controls and the reforms of network charges.
- Investors on a range of transactions across Europe for gas and electricity assets, including renewable technologies.
- Project developers in relation to the costs and benefits of energy infrastructure projects.
- A range of clients on the capacity market design and impact on strategy.
- A range of clients about the take-up of end-user technologies required to achieve the energy transition targets, and policies to support this take-up.
- Infrastructure operators on the role of gas infrastructure across Europe as the economy decarbonises.
- Energy suppliers on the phase-out of regulated end-user tariffs.

About you:

Applicants are required to have at least 4 years relevant experience gained within a consultancy, government / public authority, or industry. Previous energy experience is highly desirable. However, we will also consider those who have worked in other areas, in particular utilities, and have a keen interest to specialise in energy. We expect the successful candidate to have the ability to apply a range of microeconomics tools to policy and business issues. Therefore applicants should have a degree in a highly analytical / quantitative discipline, with some degree of focus in economics.

You will also be able to communicate complex economic arguments in non-technical language, and to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.

Our approach is collaborative but we try to never lose sight of the fact we are a team of individuals. We aim to provide you with the flexibility to shape your career to suit your particular needs, providing support to allow you to progress, and systems that are fair and transparent.

You will find that working at Frontier is unlike any other business. All our employees own a share of the company, so we all have a say in how the company is run. Whether you have a flair for marketing or enjoy arranging social events, you will be actively encouraged to get involved and to put forward your ideas. This could be in designing our training programmes, supporting our recruitment activity or being part of our events teams, to name just a few.

Our open-plan offices reflect our inclusive and open culture. From Directors to Interns, we all sit together. Our supportive and friendly environment means you can ask for advice or bounce ideas off colleagues whenever you need to.

You may have experience of the following: Economic Advisor, Economist, Commercial Analyst, Business Economics, Economic Consultant, Utilities, Energy Generation, Energy Consumption, Sustainability, etc.
