Job Description
First American Financial Corporation is currently seeking a summer Economic Intern for its office in Washington, DC.

The Economic Intern is responsible for working with the Chief Economist to support the economic research strategy. Responsibilities include providing basic data and economic analysis, producing social media content based on research and analysis prepared by the Chief Economist and others in the Office of Economic Research, and assisting in the preparation of written analysis (blog posts, reports, research briefs etc.) related to housing and mortgage finance for policymakers and the housing community. The individual will have experience conducting basic quantitative analysis and data visualization (charting), writing and communication.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Basic data gathering, analysis and manipulation;
• Development and dissemination of social media content based on research and analysis conducted by department staff;
• Creation of blog posts and web site content; preparing presentations, publications, and press releases;
• Assisting with development of data visualizations--charts, graphs and maps.

Job Qualifications
College/University students enrolled in a Bachelor's degree programs with 0-2 years' of work experience.

To qualify, candidates will possess the following:
• Major in Journalism, or Communications or a related field with an interest in Economics, Business, or a related field or work experience;
• Problem solving and analytic skills, including the ability to analyze data using common software;
• Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g. Excel or statistical software tools);
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong writing and editing skills preferred;
• An interest in real estate and housing finance is preferred;
• Self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to work as a team member.
