Job Summary

Conducts statistical and economic analyses of current macroeconomic, microeconomic, financial and regional data, and provides research support for the economists. The level of work required is considered entry- level and would work under direct supervision. This job has no direct reports.

The Community Development and Policy Studies Division at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is seeking two part-time (or full-time) interns for fall 2014 to assist with the expansion of data collection and analysis. One intern will focus his/her research specifically for the Industrial Cities Initiative while the other will focus on varied projects. In addition to the requirements listed below, applicants should have a knowledge of and interest in urban economic development and public policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supports the economists in their basic and applied research by following instructions to perform tasks including collecting data, conducting moderately complex statistical analysis, and organizing the presentation of results
Assists the economists in the analysis of public policy issues and events. Issues include monetary policy, financial markets, community and economic development and the state of the US economy
Researches economic topics for economists' articles or researches banking markets for casework analysis; on some of these occasions, the Associate Economist's efforts may be substantial enough to constitute collaboration with the economists (or department management), leading to jointly authored articles
• Prepares a variety of charts, tables, and descriptive text for Department management or other staff economists to use in their briefings and presentations
• Performs other duties as requested

Requirements

Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Graduate level degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or related field with emphasis on quantitative and/or analytical skills is preferred
Research Assistant experience preferred
SAS and/or STATA experience highly preferred
