Economic Research Manager

Global organisation supporting the telecommunications industry seeks an Economics Research Manager to support their global projects. Their focus is on creating a worldwide community for businesses looking to deliver mobile services to emerging markets.

Due to their continued success, they are now looking to recruit a key role within their global team. The rational for this recruitment is to develop research and analysis on the impact of taxation within the telecommunications industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducting research into key public policies impacting the use of mobile phones in developing markets.
• Analysing taxes applying to the mobile industry and the impact worldwide.
• Working closely with mobile operators and liaising on local fiscal policies affecting connectivity in each country.
• Responsible for creating briefing materials for operators and the media around fiscal and social policies affecting local markets.
• Liaising with the Head of Policies in developing specific repots and presentations for events.

Key Criteria:

This role requires someone to draw on both their theoretical knowledge of Economics and public policies. The ideal candidate will have experience of working within the research team of a regulatory body, a mobile network operator, a market research company or a blue-chip consultancy. Other key requirements are as follows:

• A Master's degree in Economics or a related subject.
• Exposure to working with tax and fiscal policies affecting the telecommunications industry.
• Experience of evaluating economic and social policies.
• An understanding of financial modelling and formulating business cases.
• Knowledge of telecommunications regulatory policies.
• Fluent in Spanish or French - desirable but not essential.
