The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Economics Instructor, De Anza College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
Provide classroom instruction in college level economic courses using learning-centered pedagogies. Teach courses within departmental offerings such as: Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics and Economic Issues in Today's World. Create a collaborative atmosphere in the classroom, which allows the integration of issues relating to local, national and global economies while exploring alternative ways of addressing those issues.

Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, assisting with developing and maintaining the department's equity plan and socially just practices, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to serve on District and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
• Master's degree in Economics OR Bachelor's degree in economics AND Master's degree in Business, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Education, Finance, or Political Science OR the equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• M.A. or Ph.D. in Economics.
• Experience and demonstrated success in teaching freshmen and sophomore level economics (Microeconomics and Macroeconomics).
• Knowledge of and practical experience in the application of economic principles.
• Possess a strong understanding of the functioning of market economics.
• Ability to convey enthusiasm and excitement to the diversity of the student population about the field of economics and its relevance.
• Experience teaching students of ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds at the community college, college or university level.
• Ability to use teaching methods that engage students in their own learning, motivate students to develop higher-order thinking skills, and ensure consistent and appropriate methods for evaluating student progress.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and use multiple teaching methods that address the needs of a diverse, multicultural student population and that accommodate a wide variety of learning styles. These methods may include, but are not limited to, individualized instruction, collaborative learning and technology enhanced learning.
• Demonstrated ability to work collegially with colleagues across disciplines in developing curriculum and in serving on college committees in a shared governance organization.
• Ability to demonstrate an interest and readiness to remain current in economics and to be able to project and develop future program offerings in those areas.
