POSITION SUMMARY

The Economic Specialist is based in the central economics and DA group reporting into the Chief Economist. The role will support the main areas that the central group plays – providing economic systems support, building and embedding economic/DA standards into the organization and providing direct analytical support to business units as the need arises. This is a highly visible, dynamic position which works closely with and across Business units (onshore, offshore, GNBD, Exploration) in Hess Exploration & Production, with precedence to moving to key asset roles upon completion of this role. A significant attraction of this role is the day to day involvement with the most senior economists/DAs in the company, this provides a tremendous opportunity to develop deep core economic and DA skills.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Houston based position that supports the global Hess E&P organization.

Key responsibilities include:
Maintains and develops the Hess Economics Systems: which includes the proprietary Hess Economic Suite (HES), PEEP, GEM, and DPL. The successful candidate will become an expert in these tools, specially building and testing Fiscal models.
Provide economic support to asset teams for both annual processes (eg. WPB) and one off projects. This covers all business units, and all domestic and international locations.
Assists the Senior Economics and DA advisors in developing the DA standards and training, while embedding these in the business units.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

5+ years oil and gas experience.
5+ years experience with economic evaluations in a range of international fiscal systems possibly in a consultancy or multinational EP organization.
2+ years experience in economic modeling of fiscal regimes (in PEEP, Excel or other software).
2+ years experience in an operating unit with good engagement with other core EP disciplines (technical, commercial, legal, finance).
Strong organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills - ability to work with multinational, multicultural teams.
Willingness to travel.
Decision analysis techniques, probabilistic methodologies, VoI techniques.

Education, Training & Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or Economics, other numerate degree.
Graduate degree a plus.
