Job Description
The Associate Economist is responsible for working with other economists to support the implementation of economic research and assist in the preparation of analysis of issues related to housing and mortgage finance for policymakers and the housing community. This individual will assist in the conduct of research studies (economic and econometric analysis of public record, mortgage, and real estate data). The individual will work with large data sets, data visualization, econometric model development, and real estate and housing finance data and may develop experience in real estate valuations, housing policy, mortgage performance, economic forecasting, and real estate market forecasting.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the completion of economic research projects. This includes determining appropriate methodologies and approach, coordinating one's work with others, data analysis, presenting results to internal and external audiences, preparing presentations and publications, and properly documenting the project work;
• Assist with development, implementation and interpretation of empirical models for internal and external customers.
• Preparation of analytical reports, presentations, and research for public relations and the media.
• Supporting requests by clients and the media for data and analytical findings.
Job Qualifications
• Demonstrated problem solving, and analytic skills, including the ability to analyze data
• BA/BS in Economics or Statistics or a directly related quantitative field with 1-3 years of related work experience
• Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Excel)
• Experience with statistical software (e.g. SAS, R, Stata, SPSS)
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to understand and respond to multiple internal and external stakeholder demands
and manage and handle conflict constructively
• Excellent communication, writing and editing skills
• Ability to explain complicated concepts and quantitative results in a concise manner
• Self-motivation, the ability to work independently, and the capacity to work as a team member
