Bank of America's Corporate Investments Group (CIG) is seeking a skilled Economist/Econometrician to join our team. CIG's primary function is the management of the Bank's discretionary securities portfolio. In addition, CIG is charged with generating Economic Scenarios for the company's internal processes.
The candidate will join CIG's Economics desk support team and provide support to the Scenario Generation Team in the development and improvement of models projecting domestic and/or international economic and market variables. The candidate will work with economists, statisticians, mathematicians, traders and programmers in the application of both quantitative and qualitative methods to this process. The role will also involve partnering with other internal domestic and international economists and market experts to develop hypothetical scenarios, review scenario results and produce scenario narrative.
Our work is fast-paced and intellectually challenging, and we interact daily with traders, mathematicians, and senior bank management to improve our models and adapt to changing market and internal needs.
Required Skills:
M.S. or PhD in Econometrics, Economics, Finance or equivalent, with a quantitative focus and/or experience;
Extensive economic theory and intuition;
Solid statistics theory;
Previous experience with modeling and forecasting of domestic and/or international economic indicators;
Strong programming skills in SAS, Matlab or equivalent;
Proficient in Excel and graphing software;
Strong desire to work individually and with the group on complex problem solving;
Ability to work in a time sensitive, market driven environment;
Strong attention to detail;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Skills:
Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word and Powerpoint;
Knowledge of financial markets;
Strong mathematical skills, especially coursework or experience in financial theory, economics, derivatives pricing or stochastic calculus;
Experience with large dataset analysis
