Job Description
Kindle is the most wished for, most gifted and #1 bestselling product across the millions of items we sell at Amazon. The Kindle Global Planning team is responsible for worldwide product planning for all Kindle devices and accessories including Kindle e-readers, Fire tablets, and Fire TV. We play a critical role in helping Amazon build, manage and optimize its complex supply chain.

We are growing and looking for a bright Research Scientist to work with vast amounts of exceptionally rich data and implement business-impacting predictive and descriptive models. You will be responsible for determining optimal pricing of devices and accessories while influencing product development backed by analytical insights. You will need to understand, at a very deep level, the consumer electronics device preferences of our customers. You will use methods like conjoint analysis, hierarchical discreet choice models and other methods to estimate price elasticities. You will own these models and have the opportunity to discover better methods. You will also own the device LTV models which use sophisticated econometrics to measure the incremental sales to Kindle customers. You will use techniques like natural language processing (sentiment analysis) to understand customers' preferences in the consumer electronics segment and help shape our long-run device and accessory road-map.

The ideal candidate will:
Unlock value for our customers by bridging the gap in our device road-map between our customers' CE product preferences and the Amazon ecosystem.
Drive the business towards more and more improved pricing strategy
Own the whole process of measuring device elasticity; from data collection to modeling to working with internal customers of the data.
Own device LTV models. This means doing the necessary analysis and it also means working with the forecasting team, finance team, Kindle leadership and others to build consensus around the model assumptions and inputs.
Think creatively: Amazon is a place that is always pushing the boundaries of the industry. We are not looking for someone that will just estimate models and write analyses. We want someone that will take it to the next level in terms of how to square the theory of optimal pricing and Amazon's core business tenet of customer obsession.
Generate Impact: We want someone obsessed with impact. We don't want someone that is just interested in finding patterns in the data. We want someone that understands how to turn those discoveries into value for our customers every day.
