Job Description :
URS Corporation, an environmental and engineering consulting firm, has an immediate opening for an economist with a planning background to contribute to transportation,infrastructure, environmental, coastal and ports related projects.
Economics tasks will include but may not be limited to:
-Performing economic and socioeconomics studies for both public and private sector clients including the US Army Corps of Engineers, several state DOTs, Louisiana DNR, and regional port authorities.
-Developing financial modeling, understanding state and Federal capital outlay programs and funding mechanisms in order to prepare funding applications and manage funding streams for large projects.
Possible economic projects might include benefit/cost studies for flood control, navigation/port, highway, and ecosystem restoration projects.
Planning responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
-Conducting research for planning projects,
-Assisting in the preparation of planning proposals,
-Assisting in the preparation for or conduct of public meetings related to planning projects
This position will involve participation in projects managed by several different internal groups and may include interaction with clients.
