Position Description
Science Division
The Science team comprises world class data scientists and business professionals who work together to act as a catalyst for evidence-based decision-making at AIG. In partnership with AIG's businesses and functional areas, the Science team integrates conceptual thinking, data preparation, model development (using analytical tools such as SAS, CART, and R), and solution implementation into one structured process. The Science team deploys analytics to create sustainable competitive advantages for AIG while also improving lives by enhancing AIG's insurance product offerings.
Position Requirements
AIG has an opportunity for economists to join the rapidly growing Science team. The economist will support the end-to-end delivery of a science project from problem identification, through data gathering, analyses, creative problem solving, building alignment with stakeholders, and implementation into business practice.
The role will also interface directly with line personnel in AIG businesses. Key tasks include:
• Performing detailed data, statistical, or financial analyses – and mentor junior analysts on similar tasks
• Creating compelling communications around those analyses for business cases or presentations
• Collaborating with data analysts, and other stakeholders / colleagues from across AIG, throughout a project cycle
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
-Ability to manage oneself in delivering complex analyses

-Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders across departments at regional level
-Strong communication and influencing skills
-Commitment to delivering highest quality output
-Able to multi-task across more than one project
-Demonstrated ability to problem solve creatively, towards innovative practical solutions with real business impact
-Experience performing independent analysis particularly involving large data sets, including building and applying statistical models and proficiency in relevant software or tools
-Effective collaboration within cross-functional teams
-Ability to manage multiple concurrent project
-A Ph.D. or substantial coursework towards a Ph.D. In Economics or a related field
