IPC Selection Economic is responsible for managing Amazon's inventory by helping Amazon efficiently choose the economic ASIN selection to improve it's profitability. The challenge of IPC Selection Economic system is to base on economic model to determine ASIN's selection and in-stock by considering different cost structure for different product categories and what rules can be best applied to determine the best next steps in the entire ASIN selection processes; to drive improvements in workflow for new ASIN on boarding and assess profitability of on-going in-stock ASINs. The IPC Selection Economic system employs data mining technologies, statistics methodologies and computational algorithms to solve the sophisticated inventory controlling problems.
The successful candidate will be a person who enjoys and excels at diving into data to analyze root causes and implement long term solutions – changes in business policy or processes, updates to the models in our systems, creation of effective metrics and functionality, and identify the financial impact of those solutions.

Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field with publications in refereed academic journals.
Good communication skills with both technical and business people.
Ability to speak at a level appropriate for the audience. Experience applying these skills in both academic teaching environment and a business setting is a plus.
The ability to implement models and tools through the use of high-level modeling languages (e.g. AMPL, Mosel, R, Matlab).

Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with causal effect identification
Experience working with software developers
Familiarity with Python or other scripting language
Familiarity with machine learning models
Familiarity with handling of large datasets
