Position: Senior Economist
Location: Westminster, London
Salary: £50,000-£65,000 per annum

ROLE:
The Senior Economist will assist the Chief Economist in the delivery of high quality market intelligence that supports the corporate objectives of RICS, building relationships with key policymakers to enhance the value of the profession and demonstrate the relevance of international real estate standards. You will also be engaging with members to help strengthen satisfaction levels.

You will be promoting RICS globally through relevant analytical insights, identifying and communicating relevant macro themes that have a bearing on the strategic direction of the organisation and help to manage critical areas of risk. You will also be working with policy teams around the world to provide relevant economic insight where required and helping to develop the skills of more junior economists in the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Develop an engagement and recognition strategy based on RICS market intelligence in a key market area for the organisation.
b) Set direction of the macro analysis programme produced by RICS Economics.
c) Lead on strengthening the quality of the economic contribution to policy development in the UK and any other agreed area as RICS develops globally.
d) Review the relevance of the current suite of outputs and modify and develop where appropriate.
e) Enhanced relationships with policymakers and other stakeholders in agreed markets.
f) More relevant market analysis which drive both the reputation and profile of the organisation.
g) Greater in-house economic contribution to UK policy developments strengthens the quality of the outputs giving the outputs produced by the External Affairs team greater traction with government and more opportunity to gain high quality profile.
h) Increase the confidence in the statistical quality of RICS data
i) Enhance impact of non-UK surveys with both media and investors; development of stakeholders relationships in relevant areas.
j) More substantive macro underpinning of UK policy positions providing greater opportunity for take-up of outputs.
k) Recognised accuracy and robustness of data and economic reporting in outputs; citation of RICS Economic reports by internal and external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) A higher degree or equivalent in Economics.
b) Significant experience working as a professional economist with the ability to lead projects with minimal supervision and work on own initiative.
c) An ability to represent RICS in public forums; evidence of prior public speaking experience.
d) Market sensitivity and commercial awareness / acumen.
e) Able to develop constructive relationships with other RICS departments and members.
f) Enthusiasm about developing the macro thought leadership agenda.
g) Experience of communicating with the media.
