AWS is hiring an economist to work with senior management on key business problems faced in cloud computing. As an economist at AWS you will apply the frontier of economic thinking to measure and increase the effectiveness of customer targeting, online advertising, and salesforce structure and deployment. You will build econometric models, design experiments, and apply economic theory to solve business problems in a fast moving environment. At AWS, you will be expected to process large data sets, address quantitative problems, mine data, and contribute to long term strategy at the highest level of the company.
Basic Qualifications
PhD in Economics or anticipating completion of a PhD Economics by Aug 2013
Preferred Qualifications
Two to three years of experience in private consulting, government, or in academic research
Strong background in econometrics (e.g., program evaluation, panel data, high dimensional problems, forecasting), experimental design, economic theory, and quantitative methods
Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment and draw strategy conclusions balancing statistical results and business knowledge/experience
Strong applied research track record in labor economics, development economics, public economics, industrial organization, applied econometrics, or a related field
Effective verbal and written communication skills for technical and lay audiences
