The American Iron and Steel Institute is seeking an Economist to work in support of our Public Policy and Market Development programs on behalf of the North American steel industry. The incumbent shall conduct economic research and analysis used in developing policy positions and will help in articulating the communications in support those positions and/or to refute positions in opposition. The incumbent is responsible for the analysis of proposed legislation/regulations and the impact on the steel industry and markets for steel consumption. The incumbent shall also provide continuing analysis of broader economic data and trends, global and NAFTA industry conditions, and will have the primary role in forecasting steel demand in the NAFTA region.
This position has high visibility within AISI's membership and requires and ability to work with and communicate with senior level steel company executives. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. The position requires an advanced degree in economics and a minimum of five year experience with similar responsibilities.
