HDR is a top-ten U.S. engineering and architecture firm with a growing international practice. HDR is currently looking for an Economist / Economic Analyst for our Metro-accessible office in Silver Spring, MD. Entry level economists are expected to contribute to formulating economic analyses by conducting primary and secondary research. The analyses typically address the value proposition of large and small infrastructure in the transportation, water, energy, and building infrastructure – some of which include the largest public works in the DC Metro area and around the country. Candidates with sound knowledge and skills in economic concepts, spreadsheet modeling, and written / verbal communication excel in this position and grow quickly. Due to contractual obligations U.S. citizenship and ability to clear U.S. government background checks preferred though not required.

Qualifications

Masters in Economics strongly preferred; minimum of Bachelors in Economics or related field required. 1+ years equivalent experience with an emphasis on the application and interpretation of research in public infrastructure or related topics is preferred though entry-level candidates will be considered. Experience in conceptualizing and developing economic or business models using analytical methods is strongly preferred. Knowledge of economic and econometric methods a plus. Experience with analytical packages and/or programming languages (SAS, Eviews, SPSS, Visual Basic etc.) and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows Excel Power Point and Access is required. Position requires an individual with the ability to interact with clients on a regular basis. Preference will be given to local candidates.
