The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has a unique challenge to assist the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS in their transition to democracy and market economies. The EBRD is the largest single investor in the region and mobilises significant foreign direct investment beyond its own financing.
 
The Office of the Chief Economist consists of a team of professional economists and political counsellors. It is closely focused on the operational work of the Bank and on intellectual leadership of the economic and political aspects of transition in Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS. 

 
Core Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the Bank’s sector policies and country strategies and assist with the design and monitoring of investment projects.
 
Skills and experience:
  • Advanced university degree (comparable to a PhD) in economics from a leading international university.
     
  • Strong analytical skills in applied economics.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years professional work experience.
