The incumbent of this position serves as Senior Economist and subject matter expert on economic policy and the Coast Guard's Marine Safety, Standards and Regulatory Program. The incumbent plans, coordinates and directs the full range of economic analyses required to evaluate and shape recommendations for implementing changes to the Coast Guard's comprehensive national and international maritime standards and regulations.

Advising Coast Guard executives and program managers on the most economically effective standards, regulations and resources uses
Coordinating, developing, and providing in-depth economic analyses of complex existing and proposed standards and regulations affecting aspects of marine transportation industries and the marine environment
Managing analytical teams and providing leadership and policy guidance on economic issues as a project team member
Preparing written and oral reports, comments, and advice for teams, colleagues and managers
Analyzing financial and budget requirements for proposed contractual efforts, developing independent government cost estimates (IGCE), and participating as key policy advisor to contracting officers in negotiations to establish contractual terms
Representing the Coast Guard at public proceedings, advisory committee meetings, industry and public meetings, and hearings
