The Trend Spotting Team is an exciting new unit created at the highest level in the organization to provide data-based, independent, forward looking, quantitative analysis to help position Swiss Re's underwriting and improve costing.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced social economist or sociologist with a broad legal background, who would have done work / research relevant to Swiss Re's casualty interest, to assist in spotting external trends and developments and translating them into appropriate loss inflation, loss frequency or exposure growth assumptions through predictive modeling / statistics. Research-savvy a must. You could also come from the intelligence community. You will work on a wide variety of projects cutting across SR business units and lines of business, with an initial focus on U.S. Casualty.

- Be a key contributor to establishing a network / process / framework to early identify trends affecting the insurance landscape, particularly in the legal and social environment
-Substantially influence the process to high-level quantify / prioritize trends that have a significant impact on insurance relevant parameters (for the major re-insurance portfolios assumed by Swiss Re)
- Perform quantitative analyses on internal and external trend data to determine impact of prioritized trends on costing relevant parameters
- Systematically analyze and use external studies that link external trends with loss inflation, loss frequency trends or exposure growth
- Be able to complement quantitative analysis with expert judgment where perceived correlations cannot be observed in insurance data
- Have a major influence in establishing a process to handover results to the local Parameter Task Forces (implementation in costing)

To deliver on these tasks you will need to maintain a wide internal and external network and be creative in both identifying external data sources and securing the information necessary to perform the analyses.
