Apply today to join the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a Forensic Economist within the Division of Enforcement. The CFTC's Division of Enforcement investigates and prosecutes alleged violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and Commission regulations. Economists within the Division of Enforcement's Forensic Economist Unit conduct analysis of trading data to develop analytical evidence of potential violations including market manipulation, disruptive trading, spoofing, and other trade-based violations.

Responsibilities:
Serves as an Economist responsible for economic analysis, theories and policies in support of the programmatic work of the Division of Enforcement in the investigation and prosecution of violations of the Commodity Exchange Act and Commission regulations. As an Economist, the assignments consist of:

Collection, analysis and interpretation of data to identify suspicious activities, patterns or trends through various databases, internal systems or other resources;
Development of plans and methodologies for conducting forensic economic analysis in support of investigations and litigation;
Development of forensic investigative techniques and tools to evaluate and advise whether trading activity is manipulative, disruptive or otherwise unlawful in violation of CEA and Commission Regulations;
Provision of technical analysis of commodity markets, including cash and derivative markets through application of economic expertise and analytical tools and techniques;
Participating in the Division's review of any proposed rulemakings and legislation, as directed.
