The University of Luxembourg is a multilingual, international research university.

The Faculty of Law, Economics, and Finance (FDEF) of the University of Luxembourg has an opening for a:

Full Professor in Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting (m/f)

- Ref: F2-50012567 (to be mentioned in all correspondence)
- Permanent contract
- Full-time position (40 h/week)
- Earliest starting date: September 2020

Your Role
The University is looking for a Full Professor in Business Administration with a specialization on accounting who will conduct impactful research leading to publication in premier business journals; ideally the research interests comprise non-financial disclosure/Environment Social Governance (ESG) topics. He or she will assume an active role in curriculum planning and development, deliver strong teaching and student experience in business education, and build Industry engagement. Although the selected candidate will have a specialization in accounting, candidates should have a background sufficient to teach a variety of undergraduate foundational business courses. Teaching experience in the field of sustainable management and non-financial disclosures would be an asset.

The selected candidate will take part in the education activities of the Faculty, providing reliable, high-quality teaching capacity at the Bachelor, Master and PhD levels. Regarding the teaching portfolio, a breadth of business knowledge is preferred as the Business Administration group is small in size and the teaching needs in the existing programs fairly diverse. Teaching introductory and advanced courses in the Business Administration programmes will thus require flexibility and the ability to cover potentially diverse areas of business education, particularly regarding foundations of management in undergraduate core courses. The position will be tasked with redesigning the existing Bachelor programme in Management and new course development within this programme, in collaboration with the department and adjunct teachers and practitioners.

The selected candidate will be an experienced business scholar with research focus on accounting, ideally at the intersection of non-financial disclosure/ESG. The selected candidate will have the ability to perform and administer high quality scientific research leading to publications in the premier journals of the discipline. The selected candidate will create increased research expertise, international visibility and joint publication opportunities for the department.
The selected candidate will also be willing to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. It is expected that the candidate is experienced in acquiring external funding from diverse sources and ready to reach out and actively engage with other research institutions and the Industry to establish research co-operations in Luxembourg and beyond.

Your Profile
- PhD degree in Business Administration, Accounting or an equivalent area of expertise
- A research focus and agenda on accounting, ideally with an emphasis on non-financial disclosures/sustainability, with a record of publication and citation in internationally recognized, high-ranked business journals
- Established communication and teaching skills, with a commitment to the importance of scholarship, high-quality education and cultural diversity
- Experience in working in and leading international research teams, and willingness to engage in Faculty management roles and input to pedagogical development
- Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders, to actively engage with Industry and the community, to acquire funding and develop externally funded research programmes.
- The University of Luxembourg is located within a particularly rich multicultural environment. The selected candidate must master English language as well as one of the two official languages spoken in Luxembourg: French or German. The University staff is strongly encouraged to learn the other official language by giving free access to language course to reach this goal
