S: Highly competitive

Within our competition practice, we work closely with clients and legal counsel, providing a mix of strategic advice and technical support. We assist in pre-empting issues, in producing and responding to technical analysis, in preparing client submissions and expert reports and in giving oral evidence.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the competition practice. Applicants are required to have at least two years' experience gained within an economics consultancy, academic institute or regulatory/competition authority. Competition experience is desirable however we will also consider applications from those who have gained broader regulatory experience and have a keen interest to specialise in competition. The successful candidate will be willing to work in our Berlin, Brussels, Cologne or London offices and will speak fluent German and English. Other European languages would be a plus, but are not essential.
Some recent work of the practice includes advising on:

• mergers in Germany and across Europe and beyond including Lufthansa / AirBerlin, ProSiebenSat.1 / ATV, Vodafone / Liberty Media (Unitymedia Deutschland), Hungryhouse / Just Eat and Deutsche Börse / London Stock Exchange;
• acting as economic experts in high profile damages cases in a court and out of court setting across Germany and Europe, including cases such as trucks, air cargo, confectionery, automotive parts, gas-insulated switchgear, cables and others;
• advising parties on Article 101 and 102 investigations by both the European Commission and national competition regulators, such as Euribor, Credit Default Swaps and Movies on Pay TV; and
• advising on the energy (Germany and UK), banking and investment consulting (UK) market investigations

We expect the successful candidate to have the ability to apply a range of microeconomics tools to business issues. Therefore you should have at least a BSc with a main focus in Economics and a MSc in Economics. You will also be able to communicate complex economic arguments in non-technical language, and to build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.

We offer consultants unparalleled opportunities to develop, learning to manage projects and colleagues as well as building relationships with clients. You'll be mentored and offered the opportunity to work closely with some of the brightest minds in the business. In addition to your project work, as a shareholder of the company you will be encouraged to contribute to the running of our firm.
We are offering a highly competitive salary package plus bonus and benefits, including the option for flexible working arrangements.
