Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

Interconnectors are playing an increasingly important role in British energy systems. A pipeline of future electricity interconnection projects, to France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Germany, is planned alongside existing connections with France, Ireland and the Netherlands. As these projects develop, you will play a vital leadership role, leading teams responsible for making complex cost assessments and determining whether, and to which extent, GB consumers should take some risk associated with the projects. This will require close working relationships and complex negotiation with project developers, neighbouring regulatory authorities, Governments on both sides of the link, the European Commission and with broader market players. It's an influential role that will position you at the centre of the energy security agenda in the UK.

You must have a strong track record of leadership and project delivery, with an in-depth understanding of how large-scale infrastructure projects are financed. Strong expertise in the energy sector is essential, with the capability to understand the complex regulatory framework governing interconnection and to critically assess that framework. Insight into the economics of interconnection is also important – ideally, you will already have a network of contacts within the interconnectors sector, a clear awareness of policy and an understanding of the rules around trading – now and in the future.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:
Up to 30 days' annual leave
Excellent training and development opportunities
The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
Subsidised gym and restaurant (London location only)
Interest free season ticket loan.
