Help us define the future of the UK.

Britain is a leading tourist and business destination – and that is something that we are keen to promote at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). With our work impacting on the creative, communications, cultural, data, digital, media, sport, tourism and voluntary industries, we are instrumental in maximising revenue and trade potential for these sectors. We also work to ensure that the British public make the most of the incredible facilities and opportunities available to them, getting the most out of life. It is a fascinating remit that the entire team relish and is reliant on the collaborative efforts of our innovative and results-driven colleagues – and now you could join our numbers.

We currently have three vacancies for Head of Economics and Analysis in the Digital and Media group. These are newly-created roles in which you will influence and create policies that will benefit the UK, offering you the unique prospect of shaping the position to your strengths as you support your specific business area. Working towards our communal goal of making the UK the world's leading digital economy, you will therefore take responsibility for the work of a team of economists and analysts, ensuring they are producing high-quality deliverables within deadlines, and that they are meeting their full potential. Specifically, each of the roles will also achieve the following:

Head of Telecoms Economics & Analysis
You will apply your background in telecoms regulation to the mobile, 5G and spectrum policy teams to propel our future strategy on mobile telecoms in the UK, working with key industry stakeholders, telecoms investors and the wider government to build cases for further intervention to meet mobile coverage and connectivity goals.

Head of Digital and Tech Analysis
As an experienced Economist/Analyst, you will use your digital technology knowledge to lead the economic and analytical work that is underpinning our evolving Digital Strategy. This will include ensuring our policies are evidence-based, supporting and challenging the policy teams and taking the lead on projects that will shape the next Spending Review.

Head of Trade Economics & Analysis
Using your economical/analytical experience to lead a new Trade Economics & Analysis Hub, you will lead the work of the team on cross-Whitehall analytical projects to build evidence-bases and develop analysis that will inform the shaping of new and existing free trade agreements. Developing trade modelling across the directorate, you will also analyse the potential impacts and opportunities that may arise as a result of the impending EU Exit.

To thrive in any of these positions, you will have significant economic or analytical experience, with the capacity to use quantitative and qualitative tools to translate complex information into simple terms. Highly organised and with exceptional people management and problem-solving capabilities, you will have a good understanding of economic principles and their application to public policy development – plus you will be able to identify and resolve policy trade-offs.

Set against the backdrop of a friendly and welcoming team, this is a fantastic opportunity to thrive in your chosen field. Further enhanced by a generous benefits package, access to a variety of high-profile priorities and projects and plenty of training and development opportunities, a move to DCMS will take your career to new levels. Join us, and explore what the future has in store for you.
